Makes sense, probaly did wanting to be a good community member years ago. I’d be curious how many people just hit “delete” on much of email content these days vs scrolling through. I know I actually hit more delete than even open to go and find the unsubscribe email on the various things that I either knowingly or unknowningly subscribed too.
I use a computer software as a ncaa coach that can record all kinds of data on the recruits that we contact; if they opened it, how many times they opened it and re-read it etc. Kinda interesting, you can learn who liked the info and who didn’t.
Totally agree, the subject line spoiler was a bit much – I like to watch the replay without knowing the result.
A neutral header like “Nice Results Are In” would keep everyone happy and still deliver the news.
Well watch the/your ‘replay’ without opening tabs or whatever that might spoil your enjoyment. You know there are potholes in the road: spot them and swerve. Have you read the thread ^^^? Admins have explained why “neutral headers” are detrimental to Slowtwitch.
The point is, and it’s a point I’ve made in the past, users don’t want to avoid using e-mail just because they would like to watch a race on demand without knowing the result.
There’s a difference between “don’t go to Slowtwitch forums” and “stay away from your inbox”.
That’s why I’ve unsubscribed.
ST could consider making e-mail subject lines different from article titles (if article titles absolutely must reveal results for SEO purposes), but that’s not my problem.
