We were doing a swim workout over the weekend and one of our usual lane mates brought out his new Xterra to break in for Austin and later Kona cause the lucky jerk reaffirmed all our faith in lottery system earlier this year.
Well after we were joking around as he was taking it off and he remarked that it gets hot enough in that suit that there is no way he’d ever forget to take it off.
My buddy Deuce was quick to say that he has seen photos of people finishing the run in wetsuits and a huge ‘discussion’ came about if it was true or BS and of course if there was evidence. Essentially ‘I heard that this one guy finished in a wetsuit’ wouldn’t cut it.
I personally know I’ve seen photos of a lady wearing a wetsuit but don’t know when/where I saw them. Does anyone know who the heck that was. We already won the cheat discussion thanks to our old friend f**man, BUT wetsuit woman is who we are fighting about now.
Can a guy get some help from the ST Historians on this one?
I wasn’t there but I was told in the early or mid 90’s there was a tri
north of Houston at Lake Conroe(early season). Was cold and hailed
so most people with wetsuits rode and ran in them
…brought out his new Xterra to break in for Austin and later Kona…
A little off of your topic but unless I’m mistaken, Kona is a non-wetsuit race. I even looked up Longhorn and it is iffy.
That guy is actually an entomologist researching bike/bug collisions. After he matches and records the speed of whatever insect he meets, he does a quick acceleration/uptilt of his head to collect the specimen.
