Whilst I was in line signing up Khai for IMC 2006 (yes, he did ask!) I had the good fortune to be processed by Desertdude’s lovely wife Mimi. Seems he spends way too much time on this forum! Me too!
Good to me so many twitcher’s including mookie, it’s a real help to see each other in our peaceful tribe t shirts.
Oh, and the verdict? Seems the screen filter in my fuel tank was partially clogged, and the hose somehow got kinked - hence no fuel in the line when not “gravity assisted”. Not exactly a roadside repair.
Tow back from Merritt (1st 160km were free): $250
Repair bill (my mechanic rocks): $30
Having a buddy to sign me up for next year: Priceless
Mimi is the most active lurker that I know off… she knows what goes on here more than regulars like me! And the worst part is that we don’t even know what her screen name is!
At least I managed to joing the elite club of people who have actually had a longer run split than bike split!
It seems that a lot of other people suffered from gastric problems as did I. Although I was lucky not to be one of the very many to suffer punctures for tacks and other foreign matter.
I was impressed by Chris Lieto’s speech at the Awards, he is a very eloquent guy.
Oh and yes I can confirm that the Penticton volunteers are the most enthusiastic, patient and tireless individuals I have had the pleasure of being served by, no wonder 2000 signed up for 2006 by the end of the day!!
