I just got this from my buddy Nate at Bianchi. This is basically the Bianchi made of 5WQ 7-K Dedacciai aluminum with a carbon rear end. The chainstays have the hole through them like a Colnago C-50 and C-40 HP did for a while.
Mike Aderhold and I are building it up now with a Campag Record kit, alloy cranks (not carbon) and probably Campag Zonda or Easton Tempest II wheels. The kit came from Superdave through ZAR international.
if yer gonna ride around on just another crazy light welded/glued/IS headsetted whatever bike . . .
it may as well look bitchin.
which that one most certainly does, bro. most bitchin lookin bike on the block, that. that celeste on lime paint scheme is just pure wicked hell. yee ha.
Sweeet! I have been eyeing a Bianchi for a road bike next year. I am considering getting their Axis cross bike as it could be used as an all around bike.
This bike fit me like a glove- every dimension was spot on. Even the bottom bracket height.
Bottom line too, I like aluminium bikes. I’m not so sure about the carbon rear end, but I’m willing to give this one a go. In general, I’ve had about five bikes with carbon rear ends in both alumnium and ti. The dedacciai carbon rear ends actually do seem to exert an effect on ride quality, just not as much of an effect as nice tires and wheels.
It seems like a good bike. The top tube is a lot like the top tube on my Guru Cron-Alu, and that also attracted me to it. I was also looking at a Cannondale Six 13 Team Lampre bike, but the fit wasn’t nearly as good and it was much, much more expensive.
My only guess is there is some type of conspiracy here…basically the previous posters all made a backroom deal to say this bike, which is really quite hideous looking, is just gorgeous so they could see who’d jump on the bandwagon.
Maybe it’s because I’m not big on pastel colors (or the dark blue that clashes with them)…or forks/rear stays that look like they belong to a different bike, or graphics (like on the fork where the lines of the fork and the lines of the graphic cross at an arbitrary angle) that don’t flow with the part of the bike they are on.
It is nice to see a bike that makes a statement though, obviously a lot of people dig it. If Ze Gopha gives it his approval though I think he’s on crack.

Finally, the truth.

Damn, I wish I had been in a conspiracy. It would have been my first one. It’d have been cool to have co-conspirators, and all. Next time, please include me – I promise I can keep a secret.
