One of the biggest storms this winter in NY, but it wasn’t going to stop me from going to the pool for my first swim coach session. I woke up really early (4 AM) to shovel the driveway and to brush the snow off my Tacoma. When I saw the truck, I was horrified! I left the driver’s side door open overnight… through the entire storm! The whole interior of my pristine 05 truck was covered in a 3 inch layer of the white, cold powdery stuff.
After the initial shock, I systematically started to do my thing. I moved my wife’s nice, dry minivan from the garage and moved my truck inside. I ran to the bedroom and gave the wife a gentle shake and told her my truck was full of snow, thinking that she would help save my truck from extensive water damage, expensive repairs and possible replacement of the vehicle. She lifted her head and in her own, very special way, said “you’re an idiot” and promptly went back to sleep.
After getting over that, I again went to start to do my thing. Busted out the industrial strength shop vac and sucked out every snowflake I could possibly get at. Good thing the temps were freezing and it was nice, dry powdery stuff. I then wiped the few drops of moisture that slipped through the massive suck job. I then got the brilliant idea of using my wife’s blow dryer to get at the cracks and crevices of the delicate electronics of the dashboard (thanks wifey).
I think I saved the truck.
I am now on my way to my swim coach session.
