I heard a bizarre thing on the news today about VA Senate RAce

Former Republican Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore, a POS himself, was stating that Warner was in trouble. The popular incumbent has been ahead throughout the whole race and only in the last couple of weeks has this gap lessened, but is still 51/44. That ain’t exactly close. Could Gillespie win, perhaps. But I would hardly call this trouble. But should Gillespie pull it off, that is bad news for Dems, as I was thinking a Mark Warner would be an excellent Democrat Candidate for president and I would vote for him.

Cherry picking polls. Them most recent CNU poll had that number, but everyone else is polling 10-12 point in favor of Warner. Yes, they heyday of a 20 point lead is gone (back in July), and Gillespie has been hammering ads to paint Warner as a partisan hack and tie him to Obama, but I would be surprised if he won.

But with a relatively uninformed electorate - who knows?

Warner is a known brand among Virginians. Proven a fairly conservative democrat fiscal issues. Won’t touch guns. The guy cut the budget and pissed off a lot of gov’t employees when he was elected governor. I remember, since I was a grad student (who helped elect him) and I heard department heads and university employees bitch about how he wanted to reign in the college spending.
