So i spent the weekend just outside Temecula for a friends wedding. I actually needed a long sleeve shirt early in the morning, went running at noon for 35min w/out breaking a sweat, spent sunday outside and actually lost part of my tan. saw tons of people riding near where I was staying over the three days there. only to be greeted w/103 temps upon arriving at 6:30pm in my driveway yesterday.
You guys make me sooooo jealous.
Desert Dude,
Temecula usually gets pretty hot. There is some kind of big coastal eddie, low pressure thing going on letting the clouds go way inland. On Saturday, I rode from my house in San Diego up to Rainbow, just south of Temecula hoping to get some heat but it never got very hot. Sunday I rode over by the coast and it was really cold. Anyway, at the coast it never gets up to 100, but inland areas like Temecula will see plenty of 100’s during the summer, you just got a good weekend for a break from the AZ heat.

Just keep telling yourself the three great CA sandbag lines and you’ll be okay:
- A massive earthquake will cause it to fall into the ocean any day now.
- The cost of living is way high and you’ll have to live in a refrigerator box.
- The pollution is terrible and you’ll have to wear AquaSeal goggles everywhere except in the water.
If not for those three lines, I think everyone would move to CA. Everyone. Then the only strife in my marriage would be that my wife would want to move to SF while I would want someplace a little more rural. You know, Sausalito. ;p
Dude,
SoCal is overated. How many times have I gone to San Diego for a nice long weekend and escape the heat only to encounter June Gloom in July for the whole weekend? Too many.
Though my tires were melting along CareFree Hwy yesterday, I enjoy the constant sun
Dude,
I used to live in San Diego, inland, Carmel Mountain Ranch area, and it gets plenty hot in the summer. I think Temecula gets ever hotter. Before my wife and I decided to move back to Tucson we considered buying a house in Temecula, the prices in Temecula were outrageous compared to what you can get in Tucson.
Sure it’s a little hotter in Tucson but I can’t see my self moving anywhere else. The year round training is to good, the cost of living is low and it seems like there are more races coming our way too.
I was swimming laps on the eastside this morning and watched the sun come up from over the Rincons and man that was beautiful. Don’t sell the desert southwest short. Life is good.

I can’t wait to buy my first house out here… Looking at condo’s at 200k+ and that’s not anywhere near the beach =/
We were in SD last year. I felt fat, slow, pale and old. Can’t wait to go back.
You must stay by the coast too much. Head out to Laguna for a great bike ride in the sun on the sunrise highway.
