I hate Newton's, who else does?

Not because I don’t have a pair but because my ex-girlfriend.
I told her I was getting a pair and she couldn’t believe it so she went out and bought some. So I canceled my order and went with some Asics…anyway. She used to be faster that me (she was a D1 runner) and now I shit stomp her on the run. Not because of the shoes I wear but because I train smarter than her and am a boy. (just jokes ladies)
I think they are all hype. Its about the runner. Some people preform better in different types of shoes and the same holds true with these things. They will work for some and not for others.

I’m sure sick of hearing about them. Nothing has ever been a more obviously ridiculous, useless fad…worse than power cranks, worse than nike frees

at least nike frees are super light and releatively inexpensive

and at least power cranks are totally weird

agreed, im a foreoot/midfoot striker and I hate the damn things, gimme some asics or brooks anyday. I feel stupid just looking at newtons.

Nike Frees actually are tremendous training tools. You’d be amazed at the number of runners who use them for easy runs to build foot strength and to help them be aware of how they are running. I do a lot of my easy runs in Nike Frees. I think it has definitely helped me as a runner. I was encouraged when I heard from a Nike-sponsored athlete that many of their top runners do the same. The Nike Free definitely had a great deal of thought behind it (I have met one of the guys on the development team for the shoe). They are not right for everyone, but they are not a fad. They really are a training tool, if you commit to using them.

My mother has terrible arthritis in her feet. Her doctors recommended heavy stability shoes with rigid orthotics. She tried that. Didn’t help. I had been running in Frees for about a year at that point. So I suggested that she try them for two weeks. She bought a pair. The first week, her feet hurt quite a bit, as she began using the small muscles in her feet that most of us never use. But then, slowly, they began to hurt less and less. Now she owns three pairs, and they are pretty much all she wears. They made a real difference.

Nike Frees are the only thing I run in. My shin splints went away when i switched to them from motion control shoes.

Could be coincidence, I dont know. but they work for me and are comfy, so i will stick with them

Did you do anything else to rid yourself of the shin splints other than switching shoes?

I love mine. They made me faster…faster than you.
