Second time I’ve had one. A gimlet to be exact. First time was a crash and burn. This go around worked out. Although I was out with a group of fun people and I could selectively tune out in conversations If i wanted to !

.
A Zima probably would’ve hit the spot also
.
Now you got windy all excited!
I had a Bacardi and coke. Usuallly my go to simple drink.
I’m usually a fan of red wine and the Long Island Ice Tea as well.
A month back at The Capital Grille restaurant, they had a “flight sampler”. Red wine was pouring all night. Good times and some great wines!
Capital grill in phili ? Like that place. Long Island ice teas aren’t my thing. At least since college. Wine on the other hand !!!
I’ve moved on to a cigar. But a little annoyed I’m. Not watching GOT right now

A gimlet isn’t a martini

Technically no I guess but I got to be a fancy boy with a martini glass !
I probably could’ve just poured some Zima in there !!!
Don’t fuck with windy. When it comes to women’s drinks, he’s the expert.
I used to get shit faced off of pepper martinis at a Cajun place back on the day.
That wasn’t no lady drink.

One must know one’s prey. Now explain why you were drinking white rum with mint leaves and sugar in it? Was the rum to harsh and you needed the sugar to get it down and the mint to settle your tummy?

The Capital Grille is a chain. A bunch of em in the USA. I am at Chicago or Milwaukee generally.
FYI, Long Island ice tea’s get a bad rap as usually they are pre-mixed and on special for $3.99 at Applebee’s or college bars. Garbage. Make one at home, or get one at a GOOD bar or restaurant. If they measure out a true 5 shots of liquor, then add sour mix, and top with coke (there really shouldn’t be much room for coke in the glass when finishing the drink)… it will go down smooth and taste like ice tea with some kick. Drink it down as the ice melts and it will serve for some good times.
When I make it at home, I fill a shaker with ice to the top, add all liquor (measured). Then add the sour mix and coke. Shake, strain and pour into a glass with ice. When served extra cold when shaking with ice, it won’t melt down as fast while your drinking.
Top of my head, liquors in a Long Island are: gin, rum, tequila, triple sec, and vodka
Too much too fast and you will pay the price.
The sour mix does a good job and killing much of the alcohol flavor, otherwise it would be tough to drink being that it is 5 shots of liquor.
I’ve never had a martini. What am I missing?

Other then feeling like James Bond not a whole lot.
I make a pretty mean LIT. I was a bartender for about 15 years. 10 years or so at a popular local spot that had a great HH on Fridays. I would make 100’s of them between 5-7 on Friday.
They have a bad rap that it’s a rookie drink. Also because of all the different liquors in them and the insuing headache rookies would get.
I know a few adults who drink them. Use homemade sour mix, good liquor and not rail stuff (Cointreau is your friend here) , shake is important with this drink and float a little grand marnier on the top !

You’re missing out on living the windywave life!

He didn’t really drink martinis all that often.

Didn’t know that. I thought you were at the Capital Grille in Troy, Michigan. ![]()
I had a craving for LIITs earlier this summer, so I found a ‘recipe’ online, bought the stuff, & mixed it up. Ack. It didn’t taste at all like the Joe Blow bar mix I was expecting.
My most recent bad decision was making a batch of negronis. Nasty.
