I finished my first triathlon yesterday. I did the Manitou Sprint in Saint Paul MN. I ended up finishing in 1 hr 23 min, placed 13 in my AG and 106th out of 310 for the overall male.
I feel pretty good about how I did, even though I messed up my swim. At the turn around I took the turn really wide and ended up going out at a big angle for a 100+ yards, so I ended up swimming probably and extra 200-300 yards extra because of not paying enough attention. LESSON LEARNED SIGHT MORE AND KEEP THE BUOYS IN SIGHT.
the bike went well and I avg 20 mph and ran 7:07 min/ miles, I held back a little on the bike and run because I was not sure what to full expect.
Overall I had a lot of fun and learned a lot from my few mistakes. Next time I will be better and Kick some A$$.
If anyone else ran their first recently let me know what you though of your race.
Everyone should be congratulated on their first Triathlon. So congrats. And the best thing is you’re already learning from yourself, and not others’ advice. Keep up the good work.
yes I have another sprint in 3 weeks and the LifeTime Fitness Olympic distance tri on July 16th. I am using the sprints as great workout and to learn from my mistake and see where I fall with everyone else. I think I have alot of room for improvement. and I am only 26 so I have many more years to enjoy the sport
Congrads! Sprints are a great place to learn the ins and outs of the sport. I have been doing that for my last 4 races…next up, my first olympic distance!
