After spending a season trying to dial in my long distance nutrition I finally stumbled across a mixture of Cytomax, Perpetuem and Carbo-Pro that provides me with enough calories for long course racing during the bike. The only problem is that once I start the run I experience slight nausea and stomach sloshing which really inhibits my running. My legs and lungs feel fine, my stomach just doesn’t. Any suggestions as to a solution? Am I drinking too concentrated a mix? I calculated that I need those calories but am unsure how to get them in me on the bike so I don’t feel the like puking them back up on the run?
I have found that drinking more water helps the sloshing go away. I think that the sloshing may be caused by energy drink in too high concentration to be digested quickly - so more water helps it through.
tums may help with the nausea. i usually carry them as i feel sick at the beginning of the run if i’ve had a lot of gels/sugars on the bike. they help me a ton.
