The second town, in Virginia, actually is my ancestral hometown.
doesn’t count…no castle… ![]()

But there’s a plantation house in Ashburn, Virginia – The Ashburn Plantation. You can rent it for weddings and whatnot.
That’s our version of “castle” over here, my continental friend. You were on our side in that little spat we had with King George, and I am forever grateful. ![]()
Well Francois,
A multimedia design company in New york state is nothing compared to a castle in Belgium, but here it goes:

What’s the deal with Ashburn, GA? I live about 60 miles from Ashburn, went through there last Saturday on my way up to Cordele for the Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park Duathlon.

You need to come down here to south Georgia and get some culture! The Fireant Festival is just the tip of the iceberg. We also have the Sweet Onion Festival, Sweet Potato Festival, Blueberry Festival, Swamp Festival and even one dedicated to chickens. We used to have two rattlesnake roundups in our region, but now we’re down to one. There was a big rattlesnake roundup in Fitzgerald, but they stopped doing that several years ago and now dedicate that weekend to celebrating the wild chickens that roam the streets and sidewalks of that little town. I’m serious – the place is crawling with wild chickens. I can’t remember how the birds established a colony in town, but they have. There’s a pretty good story to it; I just can’t remember it. All you have to do is ride through town and you’ll see several dozen. Friend of mine I used to play softball with bought a brand new pickup a few years ago. Days after getting it, he was riding through Fitzgerald and one of those chickens flew into the side of it. Dented it pretty badly, put it in the shop for several days. Thing is, I can’t remember the name of the chicken festival. But there is one, and it’s in Fitzgerald, GA, about half an hour off I-75 150 miles or so south of Atlanta.
These festivals can be pretty fun. They usually do have a pageant of some sort, a parade, lots of arts and crafts, and a 5K run. We get to do lots of local 5K’s and 10K’s because of these festivals (Fireant Festival has a 5K). Usually a low turnout and a good chance for slower runners like myself to pick up a trophy. I took first in my age group in a local 10K once – out of two! I’ve also won tons of third place trophies when there were only three in my age group. Pretty funny – and fun.
Back in '75 or so, my aunt was crowned the Rattlesnake Roundup Queen in Claxton, a moment my family still gushes about.

I dunno. Never been there. When I was a kid growing up in Annapolis (MD), Ashburn, VA was way, way out in the sticks where my relatives (the Ashburns) with no teeth lived.
Now, it’s a yuppie suburb of DC. Progress, I guess.
Well, I have some Regnier in the family. Who cares about spelling anyway?
dude,
I’ll bring my tent, looks like the roof is not so waterproof anymore ![]()

Francois, you obviously want to keep the details a secret from us. I tried to read the English version and it doesn’t work, nor do the German or Dutch versions. Just what is your dark secret? Perhaps the secret that will enable you to beat this next weekend in the Six Nations (freeflowing rugby would be my guess)!
I just realized that I’m the owner of a lighting systems company
Anyone need some hydroponics?
oh yeah, well I have my own coliseum here in NM
.
ok, I admit that one’s cool! ![]()
