I did something last night I said I'd never do (first time shaving report)

If you crash and have not shaved your legs…take it from me, you will wish you had shaved your legs.

C) It keeps me warm in the winter, protects my leggs from sunburn in the summer, from scratches while hiking, and probably many other types of harm while dinking around in the yard, trails or wherever.

I hope I’m not the first to tell you this, but there other things that keep your legs warm. You should go to a store and ask them about “pants” – they should do the trick.

i’ve heard that valid argument before, and since i’m a bike newbie, have never and don’t plan on crashing, ;), i don’t plan on having that problem. but seriously, if and when it happens, wouldn’t a cyclist crash on their upper-body on not their lower-body? maybe i should shave my arms!!!

even if this is the case, i don’t think the pros outweigh the cons, except for the “ego-enhancement.” even then, i’d rather spend $10K on a bike than shave my legs!

so shave your legs every couple of days for years so that when you crash you can make the experience more pleasant… sorry but that doesnt work for me.

i’ve never, ever, heard someone compliment someone else for shaved legs. i’ve made fun of dudes with shaved legs and and seen dozens of people looking at guys with shaved legs disgustingly.

the reason i dont shave is not because it looks queer or because my wife has told me it looks horrible, but because it just doesnt make sense. its time consuming and pointless.

i do agree that if you have to get massaged often its probably necessary. then all the rest of the people are just followers and posers. you want to look like a triathlete and thats easier than loosing some extra pounds or winning some races.

anyway. i write this knowing i will probably be startin a post like this in a couple of years when i finally turn queer like the rest of the posers… its inevitable right?

I have. In fact I’ve been on the receiving end of such compliments.

Most often hips and shoulders…more hips. I used to shave just to the end of my shorts…crashed and my hips were toast…anyplace I had hair there was much more road rash and the “red dots”. Plus no hair will give you less chance for infection and painful bandaid removal.

Ditto here. Many times, both genders (not that there’s anything wrong with that).

And the all-time favorite was from my sherpa… “I can’t wait to feel those shaved legs…”

If it took me an hour a day to shave my legs, THAT would make it worth the trouble.

Plus, the few convos I’ve had with hetero, non-athlete buddies convinced me not to shave. they threatened bodily-harm, psychological hazing and even questioned my manhood!! They may be homophobic, but they’re still my friends…

Now THAT was funny!

One Tri Chick’s opinion, (even tho it wasn’t solicited)

Shaved legs on a dude is hot! Now, a non-tri chick will probably not say the same. But, if you see shaved legs on a dude; 1. It makes you’re legs look more muscular, and, B. You know the dude is an athlete - so, it’s a potential conversation starter

Yeah, be careful around your knees & ankles!

Now do you have some sympathy for the chicks & understand why it mite take us a little longer in the bathroom?

I know what you’re saying about feeling funny. First time I put on a pair of running tights (way back during the college days), I felt…, um, well, “funny”. Ended up having a ball buster of a run that day.

I didn’t do a very good job around my knees. I didn’t shave from the ankles down. So my feet still have a little fuzz on them. I’m going to work on that, but with the wife’s help. I sustained cuts to my left shin, the back of my left leg and the side of both knees. The cut on my right knee wasn’t too bad. The others were. It will take a little more skill to do my feet, so I’ll get some help with them. I’m wearing jeans at work today, and it’s a very unusual feeling, smooth legs on denim.

Nope…It’s not the shaving that takes you girls so long…it’s the blowing your hair dry for 30 minutes, 15 minutes for makeup, 5 minutes for lipstick that ticks us guys off AFTER the shower.

Heck, most of you girls look better without the makeup and your hair naturally drying!!!

Yes keep that plan about never crashing,it will work TILL!!! Then while you sit in the ER and they pull out that scrubby pad that looks like Scotchbrite on steriods, you will wish you had shaved,I got a real bad infection after such a trip to the ER,damn near lost a leg,now i clip but hardly shave

Uh-oh. Kerri’s gunna open a can of whoop-ass on you! (use the small can, Kerri…you know, the sample size.)

pics or it didnt happen
.

Pics of my legs or of the cuts? Or of my fuzzy feet? I can supply any one or all of the above.

RP

your pretty new shiny legs amigo… photo shop the cuts out wouldja.

my fuzzy feet

That’s funny…all of a sudden, I picture you as a Hobbitt.

My wife was against it until I did i the first time. Now I have to keep my legs shaved year round. Well, I don’t HAVE to but there are definite incentives to doing so.
