Race ysterday, feeling good, coming in to T2, guy in front of swerves, I go down to avoid him, tore up my knee, calf, hip, tore my new shorts. worst part of it - I was out of my shoes for the dismount, both of my feet got it good, just about all of my toes. a volunteer was pulling my bike out of the way, another was rushing over, asking m if Ishe could help me to the medic, all I was thinking was “where’s she going with my bike?” jumped up, grabbed my bike and took off, pulled on my (used to be) white shoes, stopped at the first water station and poured about five cups of water on my legs. I figured, I paid, I was going to finish if I could. Man, that stings. Usually, while running, I think aboout my legs and lungs hurting, this time, I kept looking at my shoes and thinking, they’re turning red. One guy ran past me and said, “dude, your ass is hanging out.”
took home a clydesdale trophy.
and the bike is fine.
and when Kestrel Kerri said, Make sure you shave your feet - she wasn’t kidding!
Just so there’s no misunderstanding – when I told you to have a great day at Lum’s, this WASN’T what I had in mind!
Still, mighty fine job pulling it together and finishing in what sounds like fine form. I’ll write off line later… but right now I’m going to go shave my feet.
Glad you’re OK. I was there … totally broke down on the run but finished. My wife saw you crash. She told me about this guy who’s ass was hanging out of his shorts after crashing on the dismount. I just called and told her that not only did you finish but you took home a trophy! She couldn’t believe it. Nice recovery. Hope your bike is ok. Brick
