After a lengthy search for a new bike (I own a many-times retrofitted 1991 Klein Quantum with two IMH finishes on it and a 1998 classic black QR Kilo), I finally decided this week on my new ride…a 700c 59cm Litespeed Saber.
I looked forever for what I wanted and what would be best for me…48 years old, 6’1" 185. After a lengthy search, I felt that the Saber, while perhaps not the “sexiest” bike out there in our black aero carbon universe, was the best choice. A longer head tube for a better fit at my size, beautifully made…and with 9 speed Ultegra (plenty for most of my riding), priced right. Did the deal and it sits in my garage, resplendently, as I write.
There was a question or two I had with the purchase, and I want to give kudos to Herbert from Litespeed, who responded to my e-mails with great speed and customer service. Terrific to deal with.
Extremely well made bike – very sexy machine indeed.
Not that there are any rules about it, but after so many years on the same bikes and two Ironman finishes you more than deserve to treat yourself for such a great speed machine.
I just bought a 59cm Litespeed Saber with Ultegra 9-speed three weeks ago. It is, by far, the most comfortable bike I have ever owned. By the way, how is the handling on your bike? I went screaming down a mountain this weekend and was very pleased. I say this because I have an extremely short stem, 8cm, but somehow it all works out fine. What length is your stem?
