I am so sick

I would…but I have this bad habit of airbrushing photos.

So you could airbrush me spotting her then right??? In the weight training sense…you sickos.

Okay, leave the nice lady alone.

Yeah, I know, my bad. Been a long cold winter up here in Canada…don’t even need the cave that Tibbs has. Got me a bit excited about the upcoming race season is all. Focusing now…she’s a triathlete (one who could kick my butt too)…

When in comes top discussing ladies the term “adorable” is above “hot”. See my way of speaking is wierd, I refuse to use words correctly. So rest assured your adorable which is “do able.”

Ain’t we sad?

Cutie? Adorable? Are these words commonly used when describing an athena? I’ll take it! Thanks, a lady always loves compliments!

some of us like athena’s. Hell, I even married one . . . let not discuss the fact that she can out swim me and out do me on the leg press as well . . . uh, yeah, I have skinny runner legs . . .

I was just at the coaching clinic with Maylene and the pictures in no way do her justice.

By the way Maylene, great presentation at the clinic. I’ve already started incorporating some of the stuff you were talking about into mine and others workouts. I liked some of the stuff you don’t normally see like the clock lunges, different core stuff, etc. Gives a nice alternative during the workout.

Yeah yeah yeah she is real smart and all but did you notice she was hot?

Like I said, the pictures are not a fair representation.

Plus the lady knows her shit about functional strength training.

Smarts, looks, and knows her way around a weight room, Tibbs, you’d never stand a chance.

Just my presence alone would have her begging for death to relieve her of the hell known as my company.

j p o is right! I also was at the USAT clinic last week where Maylene was an instructor - sure, she’s got the looks thing perfected, and the personality is perfect also, but don’t let those fool you about Maylene’s brains and skills in tri-strength. Try some of the functional strength exercises she preaches and you’ll see and feel the difference.

I am not a “Johnny Come Lately”, I just have not been on the computer for a few days.

My words would be “Wowie Neato Cool!!!” for you, young lady…

Thanks Joe.

I have to say the compliments are all nice, even the naughty ones (which make an innocent girl like me, blush), but it really is nice to be complimented on my work.

I am glad the exercises are working well for you. They are quite difficult to explain so I am having a hard time answering mails about them, even with still pics! The information about the dvd will be up soon on here, probably within the week. What I could not cover during the clinic due to time will be on there. The whole workout, progressions and variations depending on what equipment you have available.

And I do not think you stayed for the CE course? We went into Max Strength, Power Endurance and Muscular Endurance. Showed a bunch of ideas for heavy lifting progressions & plyo drills, sequencing and recovery. I will cover a lot of that in an article that should be up soon. If you have any other ideas on things to cover here on slowtwitch, let me know.

And thanks again for the feedback.

maylene

It’s great to have someone so knowledgeable writing about this on the site. As a former bodybuilder who now races bikes and triathlons, I am always happy to get good scientific info on what my lifting program should be for these sports.

Guys, I know she’s cute, but you should really read the article too.

(I’m also vicariously happy to hear appreciation for a muscular female pyisique, I’m too short to be an Athena, but I definitely have the right body type!!)

“Guys, I know she’s cute, but you should really read the article too.”

why?

Guys, I know she’s cute, but you should really read the article too

I have been reading articles since I stole my dads playboy.

About that DVD. Is this going to be strength training for TRI?And where will it be available. I strength train 3 days a week but have been thinking of dropping weights to drop weight to get faster. I am really interested in this DVD. Thank You Kenney

That’s ok, Mr. Tibbs, we won’t make you read

From now on I will just send you the pictures

Hi Kenney

Yes, the DVD is titled “Strength for the Multi-sport Athlete” and is useful for any endurance athlete. The one coming out next week is the first in a series, “Stabilization” or what most people call AA. It can be used as the first phase then progress to Max Strength or just use the progressions to keep the challenge (progressive overload). It also depends on if you should progress to other phases. The program is quite clear on imbalances to look for. Your weaknesses will show up real quick. All exercises are specific to swim/bike/run except for what I call “supplemental” such as plank, back curl (a type of hyperextension) etc. ALL will work your core, and I consider hips and shoulders core.

Also, the DVD is designed for the user to view it then perform the exercises, not during the viewing, preferably in front of a mirror to watch form. It comes with a workout card to take to the gym that you fill out with the program you choose. The program I use is shown but depending on if you work out at home or at the gym, you can choose different variations of the same movement (ie. for the press you can either choose the push-up on a physio ball or a cable press standing on one leg, both are progressions to the basic exercises that are also shown). The DVD shows 19 different exercises with about 2-3 progressions each. My basic workout is 10 exercises and, after a few tries, can be done in about half an hour. Add a warmup and stretch and you are out of the gym in under an hour, 1-3 times per week (depending on where you are in the season).

Dan should have the info up for ordering soon. After viewing it, let me know what you think. And one word of caution. When it says to start slowly and only perform one set the first time, even if it feels simple, heed the warning. You will be working muscles you never even knew you had, but these are the muscles that will help correct those imbalances screwing up your form!

Thanks, maylene

Thanks I will be looking forward to this and will give feedback. However to your response of “And one word of caution. When it says to start slowly and only perform one set the first time, even if it feels simple, heed the warning. You will be working muscles you never even knew you had” Great, tell a man to follow directions, and with that, directions that any man with an ego(Mama said we have egos not brains)would definetly challenge…as in beware of weaknesses. Now when I do this I will end up real sore. Yeah a pretty girl in a weight room tells guy to take it easy…Of course He adds more weight and regrets!!!
