Did the Vikingman in Fredericia the day before the world champs on Aug 6. Swim was shortened to 1.9k… but whateva.
Thoughts:
- 14C water is fucking cold!! (was it even that warm or did they lie to us?). No frickin way I was going to finish a 3.8km swim in that.
- Jellyfish suck
- Final finishers came in just under 14hrs… No overwieght mid-life crisis people looking to bag an iron race here.
- Michael Krüger wins in 8:15. Add 25mins for an extra 1.9k on the swim… and still stinking fast. Ever heard of this guy outside of Denmark? I haven’t. He is the Danish national tri coach.
- Scandos are a fit bunch… the average AG’er there seemed a lot tougher.
I paid ~$320CDN for this race. Factor in that Denmark is stupid expensive for EVERYTHING… and this race was a ridiculous bargain as IM racing goes.
The Fredericia race organizers were friggin outstanding too… both events on that weekend kicked ass.
