What’s the swim like there? I’ve heard some crazy stories…
Shawn, ASICS America
The swim was much worse the day before the event. I remember thinking how tough it would be on race day but for some reason a guy named “Big Johnson” took care of all the crap on the surface thanks to his well… Way to go Johnson… Stop by the NTC and see Big Johnson come race week!
Yeah, but did he get rid of the ‘stuff’ on the bottom? I heard there were gators in the lake. I was thinking about racing, but after I heard that…I’m out!

Shawn,
Better rule out Great Floridian too. I watched a gator pass Lake Minneola at 5:30 am about a month back right over the swim course where I swim every day. Personally, I would be more concerned bout the truckers on the road which I am NOW!

Come on Shawn, us Floridians love our little gators. We use gator logos for our schools, roads, etc., and have theme parks where they are showcased. These critters are everywhere. One of my clients just pulled a 14-footer out of a retention pond! I’ll try to post the pics. This thing is freaking huge - a monster. Now that said ;), don’t worry about 'em. Gators, like sharks (which are all over the coastlines), rarely attack humans. No chance in hell that they will attack a triathlete in the middle of a mass or wave start swim. The noise and commotion sends them far away, even the 14-footer! The only person that has a chance of getting whacked would be Mad Marty as he usually drops the pack right from the start and is swimming solo.
In the depths of the impenetrably dark Lake Minneola . . . .
Kevin–Don;t worry about those alligator attacks–We’ve got you covered.
Alligator Attack The Action Man Team is out patrolling the South Florida waterways when they get a report of an alligator sighting in a Kevin's residential area. Off they go to investigate, and soon they encounter the gator! Just when it looks like the gator has been caught, the gator dives and swims away...
Thanks Monk… Good to see you patrolling the waterways of Central Florida! After seeing those pictures I feel much safer.
thats frickin scary!
