Now, I don’t mean to rant, but I just got back from the pool and thought I would ask the following:
What do you think of those swimmers who feel the need to literally “make an entrance” when they enter the pool? I am referring to those individuals that dive into the pool (notwithstanding that it’s four feet deep and there are multiple “no diving” signs) and make a splash larger than if they did a cannonball, then proceed to “sprint” for the first 15 yards, kicking so aggressively that you’d think they were competing to create the foam on a cappucino.
It is all about ritual, plus there is nothing worse then getting into the pool. The water is always cold. It is a total shock to the body.
I do this because it seems to help with the transition from being warm and comfy to wet and cold. It is like bitting down on a bullet while they cut off your arm. The key is diversion.
I am developing this skill, this mental skill, where idiots are invisible to me. You should try it, because it is very helpful and makes your life so much better.
I started doing this with the people from my National Federation, but you can start with whoever you’d like.

So, what does it feel like to be the last human on Earth?
