I just installed my hyrdotail and it came with some of the beaker concept straps. Is there any particular way you are supposed to use those straps to hold your spare tire and levers? where on the hydrotail do you strap them. What is the purpose of the “hole” in the strap?
any help would be much appreciated
You screw them into the back of your hydrotail (there are holes back there). I wrap my spare stuff with a rubberband, put it into a plastic bag, roll the bag up, then use the straps to secure it onto the back of the hydrotail. Works pretty well.
is it better to put the strap on the top or bottom hole?
I use the bottom one and strap a small bag onto the back of my HydroTail, works great.
While we’re on the topic of Hydrotail, is anybody using it to carry ONE water bottle?
If so, how is it working?
so are the tube and levers literally on the very back of the hydrotail or strapped onto the side? since the strap screws into the back it seems like it would be hard to get the stuff back there as well. Also, in terms of being “aero”, wouldnt it make more sense just to put the tube and levers in the back of your jersey?

i do… use it with the older profile cages… never lost a bottle- works like a charm!
Cool.
Another question. Anybody using a HT with a standard Arione? The LBS guy and I were playing with it today and couldn’t get it to fit “properly”. Of course, we could jimmy it to work. (It would only fit the side rail, not the sloping rail).
Anyone?
I use classic flite titanium saddle by selle italia without any issues… if this helps anyone…
I used the HydroTail this summer on a standard Arione w/o any problems.
Sometimes with one bottle (using the other holder for my saddle bag), sometimes with two, the HydroTail was a fantastic lightweight alternative to carrying a CamelBak on long rides.
I recommend it – not just for tri bikes – but also for century rides and other long days in the saddle.
right now you can go to one of the big 4 and get free straps when purchasing a hydro tail. It would be interesting to have these tallied up within the KONA bike count. For a first year product, my guess is that half of the bikes will have them. Over 6000 sold this year. Normann did a good job putting, yet, another company on the map!

Ditto Mark’s response…one Profile bottle cage and works great!
