Anybody have experience mounting a hydrotail water bottle mount on a QR caliente? I mulled the idea over with my LBS and they pointed me toward a ‘standard’ aluminium mount, seems the hydrotail is a bit of a chore to mount.

I bought the HydraTail water bottle holder mounted behind the seat with 2 Profile Design water bottle mounts attached. It’s fairly light and very easy to access while riding in the aero position. the Profile Design water bottle mounts come with small elastic bands that help keep the bottles from launching. I have not launched a water bottle yet and I have been on some bumpy rides.
One note though if you do buy the Hydratail, get the bike shop to bore out the plastic inserts and put through longer screws to securely attach the Hydratail to the seat. I found that the product is sold with short self tapping screws that do not hold the Hydratail secure for very long. Good luck.
Go with the tail…if you are having a hard time mounting it get a hold of Andrew with beaker concepts he will help you out, good guy. You will love the tail!!!

Don’t know if you can bore out the latest round of the plastic clamps…Mine came with metal inserts for threads–no longer just plastic.
Thanks for the info, I was really looking forward (don’t really know why) to mounting the hydrotail on my bike but was bummed when they steered me away (then I realllly wanted one, this obsession with gear is chronic). Thanks again.
