Is the Hydrotail still a pain in the ass to mount/secure? I know that a while back there were lots of threads about issues with this new product.
Anyone using the HT with their Fizik Arione Tri? How is that working?
So far for me not so good. I currently have it mounted on the rails going in to the saddle and it stayed fine for about 1 ride, than got all loose on me. I am going to try and re-mount it in a different position and see if that works. HT sent me new mounts because little metal piece in the plastic mounts came out. The new mounts were the same as the old ones, so I have been trying the longer bolt with a nut to secure it on the other side.
A friend and I recently bought a pair for our bikes. We both use Fizik Arione Tri2’s on the bikes. No problems mounting them, I however, have had issues with the little metal-thing loosening it self from the plastic u-bracket. I just secured it again with some super glue. No problems now. My friend has had no problems at all.
I personally think that you have one go to secure it - if you tighten and loosening it several times to re-arrange the position behind the saddle you are weakening the bond between the metal and the plastic on the u-bracket. I moved it around a couple of times and got the problems - my friend just mounted it and haven’t touched it since.
That aside the Hydrotail works great! Easy to use and nice design.
