Hy-vee triathlon thread

does anyone else find greg welch annoying? dave ragsdale is way more interesting.

I’m more annoyed that they don’t have bike video!

You’re right - just done a quick search and they didn’t cross, I thought Mclarty had done Hamburg when Hayley was there.

I guess we’ll never get to know now - she just didn’t “love it” enough…

Definitely not as polished as the triathlonlive wcs coverage. But beggars can’t be choosers sadly.

Haskins is looking good so far, got the first bike prime

Live here now. Contrast a bit dark, but otherwise a good picture.

I’m enjoying both Greg’s and Dave’s comments. The third announcer Mike Wattney is also very good. Great to see this race “live” on Sunday afternoon.

Do you still have audio? I appear to have lost that feature

I’m still fine, had to refresh it again though.

yeah, that worked, thanks. When in doubt, reboot

Tom,

They sound good. As you know it’s always a challenge doing the Live PA and the TV/Online at the same time as the dyanmics and environment are a bit different.

Who is this Butterfield anyways? She didn’t even make the front page article, listing the favorites?

Is it just me or does that chase pack look awfully bunched up for a non-draft legal race? This is exciting to watch for sure. May have to take a break though and step away before the men start.

Great to see such an amazing event in the city where I grew up. This may give me an excuse to go back and visit next summer.

The camera angle can really make them look a lot closer together than they may be. That said, for sure they will try to hold a legal minimum distance.

Is it also staggered rules?

Fleck - As we both have done this type of announcing before, you know how tough it is - Dave does a great job of bringing color and background into the race and I’m sure Greg is enjoying working with him. Some might not get his dry humor at times, but I for one enjoy his comments. I liked Dave question to Greg about “his first big payday” and was hoping to hear the story, before the girls came through that bike lap. Maybe we will hear the story later!

I’m not there…I have no knowledge of the cornering conditions (off camber, gravel, decreasing radii, etc etc)…I’m sure they’re going faster than they look…but I cannot get over how few - if any - of the racers seem to be carrying speed through the corners On The Extensions. All bullhorns, all the time. I don’t get it.

No it’s really not bad the roads more or less are decent in DES moines, i think the wind is just nuts. Since they aren’t following them all the way around we can’t see where they are hitting wind and where they aren’t.

Question I was wondering if one of the athletes who got a preme dnfed would it go to the second place person who would have got it?

She took the lead, but didn’t put her helmet in the basket, is that gonna be a penatly?

I was thinking the same thing… dunno. This is fun to watch though - I hope rinny kills it.
