Hy-Vee age groupers, check your results again

I don’t know if people are contacting the RD or if they are doing checks on times, but I moved up two spots since I checked the results last night.

With such a well done race, I still can’t believe they left out the mile markers and the timing mat on a multi-loop run course.

The overall’s are wrong though. THere is no 4th place. I am guessing there are other numbers missing too but i’m not gonna look for them.

I counted the other night and ended up with 81st and its showing 100th on this.

I moved up one spot since yesterday in one of the geezer groups–55-59. I can’t wait until tomorrow.

It might be folks admitting to running just one loop downtown.

I came through later in the morning, of course, but the volunteers were asking each of us individually how many loops we had run. So it is odd how many folks missed the second loop. A friend of mine, whose has done many triathlons, had to disqualify himself.

I’m kind of surprised that so many people messed up and only ran one loop. Since I knew about the 2 loops by looking at the map before the pre-race meeting, and they mentioned it at the meeting, I am wondering what some of the people have to say as to why this happened? I’m just curious. I am not coming down on anyone. I think the loops should have been highlighted in the pre-race meeting so everyone was clear about it.

By the time I got to the loop there was a guy on a bullhorn saying “you must turn left on 7th St twice!”. I thought that was very clear. But perhaps that is not what was being said to earlier arrivals at that corner?

I think the answer to your question is that given the oppertunity to cheat, a lot of people will take it…Look at all the drafting, no different…Of course doing two loops is easy to remember, it is also easy to skip…If RD’s give athletes the oppertunity to cut courses short, with no way to tell, a large group will do it. If they put so many on a course that big packs form, then most will join in, as long as they believe they will not be caught. Entirely predictable, and has gone on for decades now…A dark side of human nature that we try to ignore…

Does any one know where to check out the photos? There were like 100 photographers there and I looked at the Hyvee site and it just had pics of little kids?

How many people started the race? About 1215 or so finished.

He was yelling it pretty early. Not to mention the RD said that at the beginning of the swim.

Well i think there were at least a few people that were still stuck in traffic that never started.

To Monty’ point, I broke out the obvious run time penalties for men and women…
4 women cut the course.
36 men cut the course.

It appears that women either follow directions better or, have a lower propensity to cheat…
I’m guessing it’s a little of both.

Grant…nice job with your double this past weekend. Was getting out of bed on Monday a challenge?

Thanks, Getting out of bed was easy… staying out of bed was a bit more difficult.

Luckly i had the day off. But i slept probably till 10am, got up and biked 15 miles to map out a run course for the Junior elites for my coach. Then went back to bed from 2-6:30. THen i think i was in bed by 11:30 again.

The races didn’t kill me as much as only getting 3 1/2 hours of sleep friday because i had to drive to the QC, and then another 5 saturday. I woke up pretty quick though when i was running from my car to transition in flip flops.

I tend to lean toward ignorance over malice in this situation. I don’t think too many people would cut this course. Then again I try to race ethically. I moved up one spot since yesterday. I emailed then about a guy in my age group who ran a 32 and change 10k. Based on his other times there was just no way. I have all the confidence in the world this won’t happen next year and they’ll have a better run course.
