Will Hurricane Ivan have an impact on Nationals this weekend?
Nope - unless the storm goes 100 miles west of the predicted path or they move the race from Shreveport to Mobile, Alabama. Z
Has anyone checked to see if USAT has as a contingency plan in place? I just saw there was a 30% of a direct strike on New Orleans. If that happens the whole state will be affected with rain. And remember the swim is in a river. Not that I’m going anyway, I’m just hoping it misses and all the athletes are able to race???
Shreveport is a long way from New Orleans. I don’t have a map in front of me but I’d say it’s at least 150 miles west (and of course north).
Unless the Hurricane experts are way, way off it won’t impact Shreveport one bit.
Of course people who travel to Shreveport from the east need to be mindful of Ivan.
I know that a lot of people on this board are rooting against this race and hoping it will fail but chances are it’ll be a great race. We’ll see.
the race directors just gave the race a go ahead today, hopefully ivan won’t take a swing to the west as there’s a bunch of us flying all the way out from Hawaii for the race. A little cooler weather wouldn’t hurt though:)

As someone who’s personally been through 5 direct-hit hurricanes (Carla, Buehla, Celia, Allen and I can’t remember the last one), one thing I can tell you is that the areas to the west of hurricanes receive the worst of the weather… so if it hits New Orleans, Shreveport’s gonna get a lot of really bad weather.
