Great day. Found my happy pace and turned in a 3:58:55. My wife did 5:30:00. Both of us are sore as hell today. I had to run the last 500 yards breathing through my mouth because the woman in front of me shit all over herself and it reeked!
Cheers,
Dave
I saw somebody with a Las Vegas Tri club shirt that went by me and patted me on the back at about mile 12 (mile 7 for the 1/2 mary). Was that you??
I’ll bet he said he gets on at Green River. There is a frontage road that backs up to the golf course. It is a parking lot on the weekends where people park, hop on the bike and get on the trail
I know that spot. That’s where I turnaround and head back to the beach on my 65mi rides. I’m going to ride that tomorrow.

Close. What I meant to post was that we usually start at Yorba Reg. Park, ride to Green River, and then backtrack to the beach before returning to the park. 2 reasons: There are restrooms at the park and cars get broken into at Green River. Do not leave your car there!

That is an impressive mid-week ride. Depending on when you leave, you might have a fun tailwind on one leg of it. If you ride up the city street a bit, look across the freeway and up at the opposite hill. There is some new construction going on up there and it looks like a brutal ride up. I have only looked at it from the freeway, but I want to figure out how to get over there for some hill work. Looks like it might be a couple of miles long.

I know the rest rooms well:) Sometimes I turn around at the YR park/Weir Canyon bridge. I can get a 52-55 miles ride out of that. I try not to ride the river trail on the weekends. During the week it’s great. I see the same people all the time and I’ve made a few friends.
On weekends I like Santiago Canyon or just ride the coast from my house.

I only ride two times a week so if I’m training for a HIM I try to get two 65 miles rides a week. Tues on the river trail followed by a 6-10 mi run. I’m not up to my full distance training yet but I’m getting there.
As for the wind, I start up the river trail in the morning so there is generally a slight head wind going north. Most days by the time I turn around there is a strong wind coming up the river trail. I have to tell myself it’s good training…still kinda sucks. Of course when we have SA winds it’s the other way around.
There are some brutal hills across from YR park or if you go over the bridge at Green River. I save my hills for the weekend rides.
