Hunter who killed and skinned a Connecticut family's pet dogs claims he thought they were coyotes

Most northeastern coyotes are now Coy-Wolf hybrids. Would you be sure that this was a coyote and not a dog.

i’m pretty confident i wouldn’t be firing at a distance from a canine because of the possibility of error

but i’m not a hunter with a bow and “skills” to test.

real hunters here can address this, being better informed

relying in general.

from crossbowspot.com “If you are a pro hunter, 80 yards is suitable for you to hunt an animal. Besides, you can stick to 60 yards or less, especially if you are a beginner.”

If you can’t tell a German Sheppard from a coyote (or wolf/coyote, or whatever) at under 80 yards, you shouldn’t be hunting. If you were shooting at something beyond that range, you shouldn’t be hunting. If you can’t tell a German Sheppard from a coyote when you are standing over it, before you fucking cut it’s head off and skin it…you are a POS and a liar.

agreed

but

I’ve never really “got” the cross bow guys? Sure i hunt during primitive season with a bow—or a black powder muzzle loader. But what’s up with the cross bow guy’s launching a bolt?

The Church ought to put a edict out against that sortta stuff!?

Here’s a coyote in downtown Tucson—very near the UofA.

but they don’t all look like this—and some interbreed with domestic dogs.

I think what you’ve got yourself there is a Chupacabra. Maingy little critters.

I’ve nothing against Song Dogs in general. love listening to them at night

I’ll grumble about the amount of barn cats they kill but that’s just a ‘balance of nature’ thing

that particular yote was mangy and looked like it should be in a apocryphal movie. I asked my brother if we should shoot it and he was aghast! “Holy Hell, this is Tucson! do you want me to be in prison?” So we just watched this devil dog as it meandered down the street
