So, did 1st IM 2.5 weeks ago, the week before the race got a chest infection, basically felt really bad Sunday, then bad Monday, started antibiotics, then Tuesday couldn’t get out of bed or eat, fever and coughing up phlegm, travelled the next day and basically didn’t leave the hotel room until the Sunday morning of the race, when i made it to the start line definatly not fully recovered but in shape to race, I had finished the antibiotics on Thursday and had strongly considered pulling out all week but on the day felt ok to swim and bike, and we’d see about the run, swam fine, bike’d ok but after halfway my stomach starting playing up big time on which it had been for a lot of the week, so couldn’t stomach anything except coke and water on teh run which led to a very low energy slow marathon, didn’t feel too sick during the race but was coughing up phlegm during the run.
So anyway, 2.5 weeks on and my body is ok, but went for 2 runs this week a 4mile adn a 5mile, and my HR was high for these and my resting HR has been over 20 beats higher than normal every day, so just asking if anyone thinks thats normal afterwards? Is it fatigue, not feeling too tired and have been relaxing or is it bad diet/no training which has been happenin for the two weeks or do u think i could still be sick (still coughing up some phlegm but nothing else, and not too much) and should see the doc?
Thanks,
G
