HR monitor better for biking than running

Anyone else like me?

I enjoy the feedback I get from my HR monitor while cycling: I use it to keep me where I want to be, whether it’s to make sure I take it easy or to make sure I push it. So I wear it on most of my rides.

But I don’t dig it for running: I have been running so long (10 years, more on than off), I am more into “feel.” Depending on the shape I am in, I can pretty much tell if I am doing 8:40 miles (125 bpm), 7:30 miles (145) or 6:20 miles (160) … Plus I wear a watch and know the mileage on many routes … And the chest strap also really bugs me running, but doesn’t bother me when I ride … So someone tell me why should I use it for most of my run training?

Because the data is just as valuable…

Try the new WearLink soft chest strap. I hated wearing my HRM when running, but the new cheststrap is like night and day.

I agree.

I hate the HRM when I’m running, It never seems to work quite as well when I run. It starts, it stops, it reads 228 BPM. It’s a huge pain in the ass.

It works 10 times better when cycling though, I swear by it, mainly because I can monitor my cadence and heart rate simultaneously.

OK. Will check it out. thanks.
