Money.
It costs a couple fractions of a penny for each tap vs. a swipe. Billions of transactions, that adds up

I think itâs because theyâre trying to make their Walmart Pay app be a thing.
Disney has a NFC payment wristband. Of course you have to buy the wristband too. They are called magicbands or magicband+. Experience More Magic with MagicBand+ | Walt Disney World Resort
The basic magicband might not cost, and down at the bottom of that page has a comparison between the two wrist bands and their phone app that they donât tell you about.
Iâve forgotten my wallet numerous times when Iâve gone to the grocery store. Apple Pay/Wallet to the rescue.
Looks like this is only for DisneyWorld? The app looks promising though - and you can pre-order food and set up contactless payment. Then some cash for small stuff/emergencies and a back up pre-paid VISA type CC.
You can get him US$ bills.
Yeah, I forgot about their way to pay through their app if you have Walmart +, which I donât but I would probably use to be able to basically skip the line.
I spent July in Italy and France. Basically used my iPhone Apple Pay everywhere. A few vendors at the antique market in LâIsle-sur-la-Sorgue were cash only, but even most of the vendors had hand helds for payment.
Spent a couple weeks in Belize and it wasnât quite as common as Europe though more places excepted it than not.
I keep a physical card on me, as inevitably when I travel I will run into place (gas station pump, Walmart) that doesnât have tap pay. But I use my Garmin for most transactions. when I have the choice. Keeps the phone and cards secure.
Walmart not having tap pay is annoying. I was out for one of those âother forumâ activities and got really thirsty. Turned a corner and there was a Walmart. Nope.
I have tried to use Garmin tap pay and never had much success. Maybe the terminals I have tired just arenât Garmin compatible, but how would you know? My phone almost always works, but it isnât 100% like my credit card so that is still my default.
I havenât had any issues yet. The vending machine at my job sometimes doesnât work, but thatâs just the stupid machine. They replaced the terminal with a little nicer one and I havenât had any issues yet. Iâve used the Garmin at gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, etc.
I have maybe gotten it to work once or twice. More often I am like âlook everyone I am going to be all cool and pay with my watchâ. Then nothing happens and I swear I hear a sad trombone sound and I have to pull out my wallet like a loser.
First of all, if you lose the card that is tied to your Apple Pay or whatever, you need to lock it, and the moment you do those digital pay methods stop working as well. Apple Pay stops working in seconds.
I used to travel a lot for business. I used Apple Pay as much as possible and never pulled the credit card out. I also had a backup card at home in the safe in Apple Pay just in case I lost the primary. I could lock it and then shift to the backup.

A bank can automatically and immediately refresh the card number etc. in Apple Pay so thereâs no interruption in service and use. The physical card is no good as soon as you tell the bank.
It may vary by bank/card, but I had no disruption in my case.
Semi-thread derailmentâŚ.
Weâre Canadian. My kid is going to Disneyland with school in March. What do we send him with to pay for stuff? Too long to take a lot of cash, his debit card will rack up ALL THE FEES and I donât really want to give him my credit card.
Magic bands
I spent 16 months travelling around the USA and Canada. I used the Google wallet on my Android phone to tap and pay everywhere except at my favourite camping ground Walmart and a few gas stations.
My daughter was surprised the first time she saw me tap my phone with a card in m Apple wallet. Iâve been doing it for several years now and rarely bring out the physical card unless itâs for a higher value and I canât tap my phone.
I also use my phone for everything. Android also can store multiple cards and you can choose which to use. Boarding passes, tickets, everything. Maryland also offers a digital driver license. It works well at the TSA Pre line making travel a snap.
