I’ve got a friend doing IMLP this weekend and would like to track her progress. Is there a site somewhere where i can enter her bib number to watch her progress?
Yup, you can usually follow athletes on www.ironmanlive.com
You can also use http://www.ironmanwireless.com/ to get text updates sent to your cell phone. My family used this to track me and loved it!
I went there but couldn’t find a spot to track athletes based on name or bib number. I realized they will have live updates on race day but chances are pretty good my friend won’t be in the lead group. Do I have to wait until the live coverage starts to access the tracking feature?
…plus my cellphone isn’t supported for this feature.
I am waiting for when they can put a gps in your championchip and track you like those little transmitters do at the tour

In the box that gives the race updates there’s a red bar called “athlete finder.” That’s your ticket. To see an example of what I’m talking about, go the ironmanlive site, click on Events, then on the left side click on “post race coverage.” A box will pop up just like the one they’ll have on race day for IMLP.
