How to sell new set of wheels? - NOT SPAM

I just bought a new bike (Spec Transition S-works) that came stock with a set of 2008 Zipp 404 clinchers. I already have race wheels (Hed3Cs) but am looking to pick up a disc so I am thinking of selling the Zipp 404s. I know this is a subjective question but what kind of discount can I expect from selling a new set of wheels? I see people try to sell used wheels with significant mileage for minimal depreciation yet I’ve seen people try to sell new wheels for significant discounts. I don’t know if the latter situations involve stolen items, scams, overstock or what or if they just want to offload them quickly. I know I won’t be able to sell them for full price but what should I expect as a normal discount for new items? 20%? It looks like the 404 clinchers are fairly popular.

Find out what they retail for at a decent shop and then go down from there. You may never have ridden them but and they are as new but they aren’t new since you aren’t a retailer. You can’t get new prices for them.

If you are priced too high you won’t get any offers.

You can often get pretty damned close to MSRP on ebay (and sometimes more!) but there’s always the risk of very few bidders and the item going for far less than it’s worth - that’s a gamble you have to take. I wouldn’t bother with a reserve price as it tends to discourage bidders.

If you want more security on your ultimate price, it will come down - but I’d say 20-30% off MSRP is a decent expectation.

If they are new and unridden - take good photos - include a great dsecription - ie that they are taken off a new ride - and list em on ebay - put a reserve at whatever you would like to get for them at a minimum - they will sell
start with an opening bid of $0.01
make it a 7 day listing
be fair on shipping costs
let it ride

I have sold a ton of bike gear here on ST and also on ebay

List em on the ST classifieds with the same photos - and shipping costs - there are buyers out there - you just need to show them what you’re selling.
