How to get bike grease out of your clothes?

Anyone have any tips?

add some simple green to your laundry…I believe there’s directions for it right on the back of the bottle. I may not get it all out, but should get most of it out. You could also scrub some on problem spots before throwing it in the wash.

if its isolated to a spot, hit with WD-40. It will break up the grease and then wash out with water.

My experience is not good with getting bike grease out of stuff. How’s this for a boozo move? I normally set my bike trainer up in front of a large patio door at my place, which has an expensive, custom-made drape on it about 95" X 85". The first warm day here in Iowa I thought it would be a good idea to open up the patio door to air the place out before I left for work. All day long, the breeze blew the drape up against my bike chain. What a mess, which the dry cleaners were only partially successful in cleaning up.

For minor problems, I have good luck spraying then pre-scrubbing the spot with “Shout” (brand name) then tossing in the wash machine get greae out of my khaki shorts that inevitably always end up with some kind of dirt, grime, or grease every time I wear them. For tougher stains, pre-treat with Simple Green as well as adding an additional 1/4 cup to the wash. Just keep in mind that unless you have treated (soft) water, the more detergents you add to the wash, the more damage it does to garments that have high content of natural fibers. The fibers apparently get loaded up with the detergents which are not completely eliminated during the rinse cycle. We do not add detergent every 3-4 washes in an effort to curb the process (or it could be we are out of laundry deterent) and tend to see almost as much sudsing during the wash cycle as if we had added detergent.

I’ve had some luck with dish soap if youre looking with something milder. its meant to break up grease too.

I second reblAK. Also, if you go to a Home Depot, there is usually something besides that that works wonders. I can not remember the name but it has taken a ton of grease off of my seats in my car. Simple Green works best if you put it right on the spot and massage with an old soft toothbrush. Should be close to gone before you throw it in the washer. Good luck buddy.
