It seems like a lot of the great spirit about triathlon is lost in all the tiny details of races, equipment, and other details. Sometimes the true spirit of triathlon can be lost, which is how I’m feeling right now.
Are there any ways to get back to the real meaning of the sport? I feel like I’m caught up in rankings and where I should be, as opposed to just living a healthy life. I’ve heard of humbling experiences, but I can’t remember specifics.
Volunteer.
I agree. Every triathlete should volunteer some time. It gives an entirely different perspective.
Remember when you were a kid.
Good luck!
Throw away your garmin, power meter, watch, and stop racing your friends up every hill.
Go for a run by yourself in a pretty location, don’t worry about time/pace, just enjoy it.
Go for a bike ride to a beautiful place and just enjoy the experience.
Concentrate on technique in swimming instead of outright speed all the time.
Skip a training day and surprise somebody you love by spending the day with them.
training is 7/8 of the fun. Get training to be fun again and all will fall back into place.
Aren’t you 15?
