So I have come up with what I think is a better mouse trap and I would really like to get it into CAD so that I can have it prototyped and see a) if it will work and b) if anyone wants to buy it.
The only problem is that I have only a very cursury knowledge of haow 3D CAD works and no time to really lean how to use it. Are there services that will actually contract just design work for a given concept? I’ve never really been in the manufacturing business so this is all reletively new to me.
Not sure if this will help, but take a look at this website with professionals for hire. I’m thinking of using them for some development work that I don’t have time for:
I thought you were referring to the little GUI widgets found on the desktop of Macs/PCs That not being the case, I would point you to emachineshop.com – not sure if that helps you but it’s all I know. Good luck.
there are a bunch of small engineering design firms that can take care of whatever your product is. they’ll range from $100 to $250 per hour depending on what you’re asking of them (i.e. just putting it into CAD, design to make sure it works, designing from scratch, etc.). they’ll also help you prototype it, test it, and get you hooked up with some manufacturers (they should help with that anyway - be sure to ask).
make sure you get a non-disclosure agreement before you start spilling your idea though. and location means little when choosing the firm. it’s cake to do this stuff with a phone and computer. good luck!
You live in Southeast Michigan, the contract house capital of the country, if not the world. There are hundreds of companies that can design, prototype, test, develop, manufacture just about anything you can imagine. Altair, Roush, Modern Engineering, DGE, Ricardo, Livernois Engineering, Defiance, Masco–tons of them are around, and probably looking for work these days.
