How to Compliment...Style is Everything

Quite the conundrum here. I just purchased a NOS Colnago C40 HP in the wild Geo color scheme.

I’m very concerned about matching my kit with the frame. All my current duds are a mis-match of crappy, dirty, worn out pieces I’ve managed to obtain over the years. Won’t do with the new bike…

Should I pick up on the main color patern? Do my best to compliment some of the lesser shades? Am I doing the right thing?

I’m so very worried about all of this I may not ride it until I know in my heart that all is OK…I also need advice on how to keep sweat, snot and gatorade off of the top tube…

White goes with anything, so just buy all white cycling gear. Just don’t bike the day after Labor day.

One word: leathers.

First thing is first…tell that there is no Shitmano going onto this masterpiece of a frame.

Not to worry Chip (Chorus casssette though)…but the Cinelli bars have got to go. Its 3T Rotundos for me always.

I’m still worried about my nasty ass britches mucking up the bike.

I will now refer you to what I STILL think is the single greatest exchange ever made on ST. (<–Clicky)

Yes, you have to compliment the lesser shades.
“Oh you lesser shade, you are really really good looking”
or
“Lesser shade, you did a great job today, I’m proud of you”.

:stuck_out_tongue:

There can be no better compliment for this bike than to put it in an actual bike race. This being ST however, not likely. Only bummer about this bike is they moved from the 1" steerer to the 1.25".

I’m glad someone else noticed that and commented on it!

Yes, saddle/bar tape to match the lesser shades
.

Hey! I did too :stuck_out_tongue:

I opened the thread specifically to do the same thing, only to find a few people beat me to it already!

To the OP:

Compliment vs. complement.

Oh, damn. I was too lazy to click on the link.

No problems. In fact, I think they compliment each other nicely.

It was farking early and I was more than worried about shades of pink, yellow and lavender…I still am dammit.

It’ll get raced, it’ll get ridden hard and put up wet at times - good Italians enjoy that.

Well, if you appreciate grammar humour, you are missing a fine, fine piece of Slowtwitch comedy.

Keeping goo off the top tube? No big deal, that cleans off easily. The bolt head for the star nut in the steer tube, on the other hand, gets a lot of grime. Advice handed down to me: clear nail polish.

Indeed! That mtb is a badass.

How sad is it that I have had that thread saved for four years?? I am SUCH a nerd.

We’re pretty rural out here. I’m not sure the boys at the sales barn would understand.

Just sayin’…

You can always couple it with a Liza Minnelli CD and sing “I Feel Pretty” in the checkout line. Just to help clear things up a bit, ya know.
