Because the internal cables of the Felt DA go into the top tube up near the headset it’s impossible to velcro a fuel belt or bento box on the frame of the Felt DA. I already have a water bottle cage between the aero bars so where else can I have a place to put food; other than pockets?
What type of food, do you want a cooler for a few beers?
Jersey pockets are the answer unless you want to carry 3+ sandwiches. If you are going on a ride long enough to need a lot of food you are probably carrying some sort of flat kit, throw it all in a saddle bag.
A few gels and maybe a 1-2 clif bars for longer rides. Saddle bag has spare tube, CO2, patch kit- no room for gels/bars. Jersey has credit card, money, cell phone; also don’t have pockets in skinsuit for race.
Use electrical tape and tape your gels to your top tube. If I were to take Cliff bars on a ride, I think that I’d just stuff them up one of my legs, or put them in a jersey pocket.
I used the TRZ bento box on my B2 before I switched to Infinit Nutrition. The velcro straps were long enough to go around the cables and headset. Those things just drive me nuts though always hitting my knees on it, but hey it worked for my first 70.3 two years ago. Good Luck!
if it’s on a long ride, put them in your jersey pockets (who needs a saddle bag? i can fit everything i need into two jersey pockets. if you can’t, chances are you’re bringing a spare chain, 5 tubes, 3 bike pumps, 7 co2 cartridges and your mother - which is too much stuff)
if it’s a race, put them in your jersey pockets.
failing that, if you’re like me and your trisuit doesn’t have pockets, shove them down the front of your trisuit. seriously. i was able to carry 4 nutrigrain bars and 2 gels during the bike leg of a half ironman, and picked up 3 more gels in transition ![]()
I’ve got a Felt B2. The strap on my bento box isn’t long enough to go around the bayonet fork but it is long enough to go around the cables and that seems to work fine. A gel flask also works to or I’ve taped gels down directly.
it is not impossible to use a bento or a fuel belt box. I have used both. michellie jones, potts, probably others.
go to your local craft shop and get get extra Velcro. Thats what I did to make my saddle gab fit on my p2
Gelrilla Grips - saw these at the Trifest, looked like a great idea. You can put two gels under each clip, and it uses zip-ties to hold it to the top tube on your bike. No more cleaning off tape residue from your bike.
I ride a B2 and use a profile design bento box just fine. I strap the velcro around the cables and it holds well. I don’t think that you’ll have a problem.
Get one of these:

Please, I need someone to laugh at in transition! ![]()
I know right? Man TJ, what were you thinking? Does anyone know what there going to sell those things for?

.
I love it- that is a no brainer:)

LOL! - I’ll ad the final touch:

It’s not impossible at all!! I’ve done it. I use a Bento box and can put it on my DA. Just go to Fabricland and get some Velcro and add an extension piece onto the straps on the Bento Box. While you’re there, find the section where they sell buttons and you can save yourself a ton of money on lace locks! (I don’t expect many men to know where stuff is a Fabricland so you might want to take your wife or girlfriend.)

many of our pro triathletes have done exactly that; attach a Bento box just behind the cables.
