but seriously, in this sport the division between pro and amateur is often murky. we can all do the same events, buy the same gear, etc etc.

i’d say it’s about getting a coach and a good plan, and some talent and support, and more than anything having the ability/guts to get an elite card and start entering the ‘pro’ division at races.

sigh, get off of slowtwitch. I was supposed to go for a 2 hour ride an hour ago… but then again it was pouring rain. Guess I’ll do an hour run.

The qualifications for turning pro became a lot stricter this year. Unless you are actually going to be in the money, there aren’t all that many reasons to turn pro. You get VIP treatment at some events which is cool, reduced entry fees sometimes, and admission to races that are hard to get into (ie. alcatraz).

good luck

Being a pro triathlete is actually very simple. You either get someone to pay you to go out and swim, bike, and run everyday, or you go to the races and place in the spots that give out prize money. No big secret, now go out and do it…The pro card means nothing if you are not making money. If you can’t cash a check, then you are a poser…

Ya just had to go there didn’t ya
