How the HELL do you link outside people to ST threads?

SRSLY

How? Almost every time I try, it comes back as a dead-end. What am I doing wrong? I typically just copy the URL up top.

Educate me

How’s this?

so, eliminate the crap AFTER the post ID?

Thank you. You are truly the Zenn master

Or, if you want to link to a specific post in a thread, do this:
https://forum.slowtwitch.com/forum.cgi?post=355084#355084

If you click on it you can see how your browser takes you to not the first post but to a specific place.

would have been funny, unfortunately ruined by some dumb movie trailer before the video started

You got me though. I am humming it, quietly, as I type

hehe…
link method is valid though.

What are you using or where are you posting these links?

I am not a tech person in any way, but when posting links up, say on Twitter, I just cut and past the whole URL for the thread into the message field for the Twitter tweet. At one time you had to use a third party link shortener like Tinyurl.com, but now Twitter seem to do that automatically - as do other social networking sites. I think Facebook just reads it and if it sees a url address, it converts it to a lnk in whatever you post.

Elsewhere, and also here there is a “Link” function that you can use to “hide” the link behind some text( see tool-bar at top of the this forums post window) - as I have done with the Tinyurl.com above.

I am sure someone with a tech background can explain it much better than I can.

Nicko, what exactly did you do? I just looks like the thread number twice, separated by the pound symbol
