I’ve always said that at 5’10" i’m of average height. However, after reading the “over 6’…” thread I’m feeling rather Napolean like! Although, when I use my reference as my girlfriend who flirts with 5 feet flat, I feel tall… I need to hang out with more guys that are Francois’ height… What is he, like 5’4"?
and not my ex college roomates who are all 6 plus!
As long as you’re tall enough so that your feet reach the ground, you should be OK.
5’8" and under is short. Lucky for me I’m an easy 5’ 8 1/2"…
I am 5’6" and have been told that I’m **not **short.
In fact, I am average height … for a 16th Century European!!!
Luckily, I was a Spanish Pirate in a previous life, so it sort of works.
I’m about 5’10.5", but I feel that I have a “tall complex”. I’ve been this height for a LONG time, and I was way taller than all my friends in middle school. Then sometime during high school they all caught and passed me. But now, with different friends, I always estimate that I’m taller than a lot of them. Strange.
I had two roommates in college who were 6’5", and my girlfriend’s dad is 6’4". So unless someone is REALLY tall, I think they are about my height. I’m weird.

Great point! And as long as you have the appropriate standover clearance (especially when mountain biking!) Then you’ll be o.k. ![]()
At least you are not 5’9" with a ‘little’ sister who is 5’11".
I had the best posture for a year or two as I tried to stay taller, eventually I gave up.
** I’ve been this height for a LONG time, and I was way taller than all my friends in middle school.**
Sounds like my situation…5’9 in 8th grade, 5’10 now…towered over almost everyone until 10th grade, and then a lot of them zoomed by me. Very sad. End of basketball career.
A Mens Health Magazine survey found that the average american male is 5’9" and 175: I’m over on the height and lower on the weight, I guess that is a good thing.
Check out the survey at http://www.pipeline.com/~dada3zen/average.htm
Every time you are down about not being 6’+, think about carrying that frame for long bikes and seemingly longer runs. My bigger frame was a blessing knocking guys around in Lacrosse, now it is a curse on every mile I run and every head wind I need to break! (of coarse it is also nice to have a 77" wing span in the water)
you’re wrong…the limit is 1m72 (5’7’’ 1/2)
under that (like Sedi for example
) that’s short.
All depends. At the school where I taught in SE Africa, I was the 4th tallest teacher and 3rd fatest out of 25 or so … In Guatemala I felt like a giant … Here in the U.S. I am about in the middle as far as height and about the skinniest teacher out of 100. No, there’s a couple dudes skinnier, come to think of it. I’m 5-10 & 155.
Pretty funny, all the short guys trying to pretend they aren’t short.

Oh no… That’s very simple answer… size DOES matter ![]()
Dang it, now we’ve jumped to the how big is big thread.

I’ve been short all my life. My best day in HS was when I wasn’t picked last.
<I think we’ve been through this before>
I was a little fat blonde kid with glasses and a bowl job haircut. I looked like Oliver on the Brady Bunch
In 1977, I got contacts, learned to surf, discovered the Clash and Talking Heads. I spiked my hair, dyed it orange and pierced one ear. I started school in the Fall a changed person, inside and out. The surfing flattened my tummy, I felt more confident and (this is the important part) girls liked me. I was the “Bad Boy” … but not really. Girls that wouldn’t talk to me the previous year were now asking me what I was doing over the weekend, etc. I hadn’t changed my personality, I just looked more like the Real Me, and was more approachable and more confortable being approached. Girls wouldn’t talk to the little nerdy guy / the little nerdy guy was uncomfortable with the girls. Chicks digged Surfer Randy and Surfer Randy let them show him how much.

I have big FEET and Long Fingers!!!
C’mon … I’m a bass player!!!
I am not so sure that matters all that much LOL!
Which part??? Feet, fingers or bass player???
If you still shop at Gap kids and you’re an adult then you’re short.
I’m just over 6’7" (2.00m) so you’re all short. It’s actually a pain being this tall. clothes are hard to find, some doorways are too short, and plane flights and movie theaters are really uncomfortable. I may have to start racing clydesdale so I can get some sympathy.
