Just curious, but how quickly can you get out of your wetsuit? I have my first tri coming up in 2 weeks and I think I can get out of my wetsuit fairly quickly to have a fast T1 time, but I want to see how quickly this is compared to other ST’ers.
Ok, I think that is comparable to what I can do. I had a practice tri last weekend with my TNT team and I got a couple of comments about how quickly I can get out of my wetsuit. I don’t do anything special. I practice, try to get out of it quickly, and hope that it doesn’t get bunched up and stuck at my feet.
Approx. 8 seconds to completely remove Desoto T1 (the “old” one, without zipper) if standing still. Normally I do most of the removal when running, I’ll guess the removal slows me down 3-4 seconds.
5-15 seconds depending on how far the transition area is from the beach.
The closer it is, the faster the suit comes off. 25 yards or less and it almost alls off on its own.
If it’s a long run and there is less water in the suit. Sometimes yo have to fight with the legs a little bit.
The step technique works pretty good.
Pull your wetsuit down to your legs, then bunch it up around your feet and alternate feet while stepping on it.
