Brillant, thanks.
I believe the correct punctuation is “obstinate**,” not "obstinate",** just in case we’re getting into tittles and jots. ![]()
Not to hijack the thread (ok, I guess I am), but I’ve never understood why the punctuation goes inside the quotation marks.
If I’m quoting some statement in the thread, but ending it short, I insert a period (or maybe a comma if I were to continue the thought). Why? The period (or comma) aren’t part of the original statement, so to me it seems like we are bastardizing the quote.
But that’s just me.
And to get back on track, let’s amend the theorized example with the missing tax implications, as well as looking at what the people actually make, and then we’ll get a better picture of the analogy.
BBDawg,
May I nick this from you? I think it’s awesome.
No that’s not how it works. Quit fooling people.
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. (because they earn minimum wage)
The fifth would pay $1. (earns $100)
The sixth would pay $3. (earns $300)
The seventh would pay $7. (earns $1000)
The eighth would pay $12. (earns $5000)
The ninth would pay $18. (earns $10000)
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59. (earns $10000000000)
You see, if you are a billionare you need to pay for more. You typically use more, you benefit more and we are the type of country that takes care of its people. That’s one of the reasons America is great. Look at ANY country where there is no middle class. There are a few ultra rich, and 90% dirt poor. Since I doubt you are making $1MM a year i hate to break this to you but you would be one of the dirt poor. We can’t let the entire socioeconomic system of this country fall into peril. If you want to lower taxes, tell your Republican friends to stop spending billions of dollars that we don’t have and spend that money within our borders, not in Iraq.
Feel free to move it along in anyway you see fit. I did not originate it, only shared it.
