How old were you when you did your first triathlon, and how long have you been doing them?
Around 40, so about 8 years.

24! The Escape was my first! I’m now 35, you do the math! 
27 years old when I did my first. That was 23 years ago.
First triathlon: Hyannis Sprint on 9/11/1993 at age 31. Therefore, it’s been almost 12 years.

I was 20.
And it was 7 years ago.
I must be the new kid in the block… doing this for 5 years and I was 16 on my first experience (in triathlon, I mean) .
I was 18 yo when I did the Human Race in Newport Beach, CA. That was 18 years ago.
Emilo DeSoto was either first or second.

I think I was 21 and I have been doing triathlons alomst constantly for 22 years.

Last tri in 1983 - 25 yrs old.
22 year layoff.
Then did 05 Wildflower.

I think I did my first in 1982. I was 30 then. I took a break from '87 until I did one in 2001. I have done 15 since then, sprint to HIM.
I was 21 when I did my first. That was 20 years ago. Mind you, I haven’t done them all this time. I left multisport several years ago to migrate into bike racing. I gave up all competition about 6 years ago (or maybe it was 7, I don’t know). Now I’m on the come-back trail.
1988 Madison (Wisconsin) triathlon. Riding my Centurion “Dave Scott” Ironman with Scott DH bars, 6 gears, Biopace chainrings, and a gigantic semi-aero Bell hardshell helmet. No Oakley pilots or Look pedals - I was just a poor student.
I guess i would have been 19. I’ve been doing them ever since but probably average less than 2 races/year.
Did my first on my 28th birthday Rocky Point, Mexico.
In my fourth year of tris, turned 31 this year.
It hurts just to type 31, can’t bring myself to say it…
The bachelor party thread got me thinking too. Best to stay away from that one and stick to these.
1985 West Bend, Wisconsin…couldn’t swim anything but the elementary backstroke. I was 28…so this is year 21 and I’ll be 49 in a few weeks.
Like Tom, I have done ALOT of races. I do have a streak going as well. Since 1989 I have had top three AG placing’s every year…though this year looks like it might be tough to keep that going…
