My rear H3 is busted and I am considering my options. I liked the H3 because I never had to worry about any maintenance or trueing of the spokes.
Just wondered if the 1080 would need any work to keep it straight?

Impossible to give an exact answer. Zipps are standard spoed wheels that neesd to be trued now and then, depending on usage, your weight, number of potholes etc…
Would go for H3, Xentis or Citec to avoid any truing.
Never. Zipp wheels, as well as Cervelo bikes, are perfect and have no flaws.
I’m 200 lbs and have a 4 year old set of 404s that have never needed truing.
TCW
Like with ANY other wheel. As needed.
I noticed my old 404’s almost never needed truing (I think I had it done once, in 3ish seasons).
Between the strength of the CF rim, and Sapim spokes, they are pretty durable.
three year old 404 clinchers here. never used for training but used in road races, crits, TT’s, etc… 25+ events a year. never needed truing
mine have not needed to be in three years. However I only use them for probably 10-15 rides a year in addition to my races. I hover around 150lbs give or take depending on the time of year. Additionally mine where custom built by Rich @ Wheelbuilder.
As one of the above poster said, Zipp wheels (like all others) should be trued as needed.
It’s a good habit to have your spokes checked and properly (re)tensioned every season to prevent your wheels from getting out of true.
