Yes that 1% of a 1%.
Kinda like how an American triathlete feels at NASACAR or NFL games.
Out Fitspeek interview this week is about Dave Matheson’s return to the ultra-distance, at the World Championships this past fall.
Now in his 50’s, he led out of the water, fell back on the bike a bit, recovered on day 2…but then there was his “pacing issue” in the 1st half of the run. Things got u-g-l-y!
Dave’s take on his training, the racing, the red lights of Hilo, his unfinished business, and more.

Great interview Kevin. Dave is such a nice guy. I actually met him when I was working in Anthony’s Pub in Penticton in 1999 the summer I won my second Ultraman. He was a gym junkie party boy. Hahaha.
Party boy… wow. would have fooled me!

Ask him about when you see him.
Ultraman is already tiny, so adding a Canadian angle makes it even more inside baseball, but that’s why it’s fun to follow. Dave’s story is relatable too leading the swim, then reality hits later and Hilo always finds a way to make things messy.
