Black bears wander through our town every once in a while - I’ve never seen one though

Mostly pines in our yard, but also have oak, a Japanese maple, beech, a ginko, couple big rhododendrons, lilacs, blueberry and raspberry bushes.

There are bars here that have seen a big increase in bald eagles, especially those that have installed artificial poles, which they gravitate to. Unlike their rural counterparts, the urban variety are far from endangered, they have a lot of protection and fundraising efforts have had a lot of success. Men in particularly have really been throwing their cash at the cause.

Closer to my place, I’ve been hearing more bogans of late. In fact I can hear one now. I’d hazard a guess that it’s a long-maned variant, perhaps prowling for sheilas.

Used to be a lot more. But then they sold the house and the new owners don’t host the same kind of parties.

We regularly have deer about 20 feet from my back door. A couple of times they’ve looked in the window.

I’m in the outskirts of a small town.

We had a fawn doing that this summer. My fence is only 42" tall so barely a hop for deer. But the fawn got confused and couldn’t find its way out. Stood there staring in the back door and bleating out some weird sad cry until i went out and opened the big gate.

Taken from my front door this morning…

Those antlers look identical.

Afternoon groundhog hunt was a bust.

I think you’re right.

Deer, bobcats, owls, hawks (and lots of non-raptor birds), small snakes, raccoons, rabbits, tons of squirrels, some foxes, an occasional bear or coyote, and one errant turtle. There are many prairie dogs a few blocks away, but they don’t travel very far.

Well, in that case…

“We” were equally disappointed with our squirrel/rabbit hunt this afternoon.

Looks like you guys are having better weather on that side of the continent.

Maine - lots of trees. Lots of deer. We had a moose in the yard once. Lots of wild turkeys. We live on a river and can hear the loons at night.
Oklahoma - few trees. The road has some deer, possums, and armadillos.

We get moose coming to drink from our rain barrel on a regular basis. Sometimes they bring their young ones. I have to say it always impresses me to stand a few feet from a moose (on the other side of a window) and realize just how big they really are.

We’re on 4.5 acres. We back up to an endangered bird habitat that’s about 2 acres wide and 10 acres long.
So far ive seen coyotes, ringtail, raccons, armadillos, porcupine, deer, wild hogs.
We’ve also seen butterflies with a 4-6" wingspan.

As for trees, we have about a dozen oaks about 12-15" in diameter that we inherited.
Hundreds of juniper trees (called cedar here). We’re starting to plant some flowering trees- pineapple guava, vitex, Chinese Fringe, museum Palo Verde, and Mimosa.

Moose, bears, deer, elk, grouse, fox, mountain lions, marmots, chipmunks, squirrels that look like huge chipmunks, bald eagles, golden eagles, woodpeckers, magpies, porcupines, skunks. Surrounded by Aspen forest and pine and spruce trees. I almost hit a bear cub 2 days ago as it darted out in front of my car (only going 20 mph and still almost hit it), saw its twin and the mama right off the road. Had 3 moose spend nearly a month at our house eating our green grasses back in May. Herd of deer currently moving through our yard daily as we’re in a migration path. We never know what’s going to be in the yard on any given day. The only one I have yet to see physically in our yard is the mountain lion, but they’ve been on the road so we know they’re here.

Greetings from Hong Kong. We live in a densely populated valley, which does an ok job of having trees in it and, for whatever reason, a pet parrot community.

But once you start climbing out of the valley, there’s plenty. Dense growth, snakes, tons of lizards, feral monkeys (way annoying) feral cows (much more chill). Wild boars. Huge spiders, though not year round.

And actually, in the valley or out, plenty of birds.

If you look above the bear, you can see a cloths like with a bird feeder on it. After the bear incident we got rid of the bird feeder.

I’m in the foothills of Los Angeles county and very into wildlife camera trapping. This year I’ve already had more than 10k stills and videos. Some years I make and sell a calendar. Here are 3 recent visitors.

amazing photos! how many traps do you have set up? and what’s your setup like?

We live on estuary and have abundant shore birds (summer egrets, osprey), winter ducks, geese (including Brandts), coyote (who like the geese and leave remains in our driveway), Bambi (who coyotes like), as well as normal varmints.
