How much wildlife is around your abode?

Garden spiders and pretty big’uns - legs spread they’re about the diameter of a quarter. One set up shop outside rhe kitchen window - it was getting started when i left for work and still at it when i got home. Web is impressive - about 6’. There’s another on the opposite side of the patio. Watching them work is mesmerizing.

There was a bird sitting on my fence this morning. I was in the yard. All of the sudden, this bobcat jumped up from the desert behind and got the bird, knocking it into my yard. The kitty then noticed me, about fifty feet away, and decided to leave his dead prey and head over to the next yard. I’ll check later to see if it came back to eat….

My son is house sitting at the farm while we’re at work this weekend. He went down to the barn for firewood and sent me this:

Aw he’s cute!

Please tell me that’s a woodchuck hanging out in the woodpile. Marmots look like that too, hard for me to tell.

Groundhog.

My pup woulda torn that woodpile apart to get at that ‘chuck!

Our sproodle sees red when these furry little pothole diggers surface. The spaniel instinct is strong in that one. Comes in handy for keeping hay fields navigable.

Daisy has the scent now, has missed a couple, but run down three in the last year. She’s vicious on ‘em!

Woodchucks and groundhogs are the same animal, and they’re both marmots.

Baby rabbit season has begun. Check out how my cat buried this one in a shallow grave in our bathroom after eating the choice cuts.

I bet that was delicious. Sure beats barn mice.

BTW for anyone on X/Twitter, Trailcam is an excellent follow.

Not the best picture, but I’ve got an armadillo that has started digging up my front yard. I need to get a suppressor for my .22.

google says

Armadillos have relatively thin skin that can be pierced by the high-speed pellet propelled by an air rifle, causing lethal damage. Before using an air rifle, ensure that it is legal in your area and be aware of any specific regulations or restrictions.

This guy decided to spend the morning under my desk.

Not too near my abode. This is Tamarama (Glamarama) in Sydney, but I just love the photo.

The photographer is from landlocked Hungary, but after a holiday in Oz hanging out on the beaches he decided he had to move here. He’s now a full time ocean photographer.

LOVE this! We need more dolphins and less humans. Thanks for sharing…

Saw an otter running across the street from one pond to another on Sunday, as we were on our way to the pickleball courts; too fast to get a phone out

Fucker was quick!

Saw more snakes on the trail than i think I’ve ever seen. Couple of garters but mostly these

Which I’ve learned are De Kay’s brown snakes.
