Great pics thanks! What kind of lizard is that? He’s huge!
Giggity…
I need to take more time to read. At first, I thought that it said “Rex was finally captured and tortured”.
Boy, if I had a dollar for every time I heard that…. I would have a dollar.
A very young Goanna. He’s got a fair chunk of growing to do.

Thanks. We don’t have those around here ![]()
Out walking while on holidays in New South Wales (Australia) a couple of weeks ago.
I assume it’s a non venomous python, just decided best to leave sleeping snakes lie.
Varanus Varius aka Tree Goanna aka Lace Monitor. Guessing you don’t live in Australia.
That one is known as Geoff to my new neighbour, he wanders across their land to a nearby dam most days. On my regular mountain bike route is a much older one known as 2 metre Peter. In American language about 6’ 7” nose to tip of tail. Probably 14 or 15 kgs (30 something lbs). Scares the crap out of me when he sprints across my path. He then charges up a tree at a million kph, bark flying everywhere.
Brush Tailed Phascogale.
That’s a target-rich environment. A semi-skilled marksman would be making chili.
WTF is that? And does it have 2 ears built into 1…a smaller and a larger for picking up diff sounds/tones? Can they be aggressive? It looks like a squirrel that hasn’t eaten for a while…
They are a small carnivorous marsupial. Pretty rare to see one in the wild. The one in my tree would probably be female.
The males have a short lifespan, they have a very intense mating routine and don’t recover very well.

bless their hearts
I mentioned our hawks and falcons up-thread
we’re 99% hawks in our immediate surrounds, but we’ve had a new falcon appear in the past couple weeks. very distinctive appearance and cry compared to the hawks!
(not my photo but this is the NZ karearea)
My wife and I were hiking back along Tasman Lake from the Tasman River Mouth when this very cheeky New Zealand Falcon started following us. It followed us for about 2 kms until we reached the jetty. About an hour later we were up at the Tasman Glacier lookout and guess who turns up.
