How much to invest in my Trek 700?

I just got done with my first tri and I’d like to do another, but I was a little surprised at my time on the bike (swim and run were about expected times); lots slower than I thought. Although I do realize that I could of course be better, I wonder how much time I actually sacrificed being upright on the handlebars and not having any device holding my foot to the peddle? Does anyone have or know the percentage?

I absolutely have a budget, but I really want to be positioned more efficiently on this bike. If I buy clip on aeros and straps for the peddles, will this make a large enough difference? Should I think about getting skinnier tires to? It has slicks on them now. Any ideas/advice?

I think I have some Look clipless pedals that I can TSR to you. You would have to get shoes, maybe someone here has a set in your size. Bars I am out of…

On our college cycling team, one of the better teammates would train with us on his mountain bike occaisonally. No aerobars. Plain old pedals. He kept up and said he did it for the extra hard resistance workout. And when he got back on a road bike, he would fly.

I say, work on the engine, pick up free parts if you can, and save up for a nice cheap used bike.

I can TSR (first time actually) you Diadora cycling shoes (size 9 US).

Thanks Cervelo, but too large! I appreciate that tho…I’m no bigger than a 14 year old girl
