How much time did you take off after your HIM? (Post Steelhead)

So, just had my first half this past weekend at steelhead…relatively happy with how it went, and curious as to how much time most of you take off after a HIM. My legs feel good today, most of the soreness is gone, just have a really bruised foot from hitting a rock while sprinting through transition. Starting to get the itch of getting back to it.

So…a day? 4 Days? A week? A month? Done for the year?

Just curious.

A thanks to Tom Ziebart as well for putting on a great race.

3 days and then jumped right into training a ultra marathon. It went well. It really depends on your recovery and how long you have been doing long course stuff.

zero…
Fred.

I am taking this week off. I’ll probably ride Saturday, maybe mountain bike or something. Tonight, the kids and I played with their Playmobil guys and hurled the bad guys from the catapult. Good times.

Physically, I am fine. Mentally, I gotta go be a dad for a while.

I do a light recovery week then resume normal training. It depends on what’s coming up on the calendar.

done for the year!!

real reason for that has nothing to do with racing or recovery though. our older son is 4 and starts kindergarten in september so we planned all of our races early in the season this year so we could devote august to doing family stuff (going to niagara falls, daily visits to the park, being together on sunday mornings instead of out riding, whatever else the kids want to do). then the wife and i cap it off with 5 days in vegas at the end of the month to celebrate our 10 year anniversary! (i know no one gives a shit about all this, but we’re looking forward to it).

otherwise, would have been at the pool this morning for sure.

Glad to see that I’m not the only one who wants to start doing at least some training again already…
Thanks for the responses!

None.

Easy 40-50min run the following day , preceeded by 45mins of swimming.

I’m doing a HIM on 18/08 and another on 02/09.

As previously stated , it depends upon your recovery.

None. My bike ride on Sunday was longer than my race on Sat…
